About Us
Ken Spiegelman started MPT College Consulting (formerly Miami Private Tutors) with one specific goal in mind: provide the best private, one on one guidance to students and their families on the journey through high school and the college application process. He and his team work privately with his clients on their college applications and provide regular counseling throughout high school and through the college application process. In addition, his team of tutors provides assistance in standardized test preparation (SAT/ACT, AP, AICE, and IB examinations) as well as subject specific tutoring.
Ken has lived in South Florida since the mid-1970's, and he is a proud graduate of Miami Palmetto Senior High School (Class of 1984). He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Muhlenberg College in 1988, his law degree from the University of Florida in 1991, and his Master’s Degree from FIU in 2014. He works with Miami Dade County Public Schools as an AP teacher and teaches AP United States Government, AP Comparative Government & Politics, and Honors International Law. He has also taught AP European History, AP Macroeconomics, AP World History, Speech and Debate, AP Seminar, & AP United States History. He also serves as a Reader for the AP United States Government examination. He previously served as an Examiner for the International Baccalaureate Program in Global Politics (Extended Essay and Papers 1, 2 and 3 HL and SL). He is a regular speaker/presenter in Miami Dade County and has mentored numerous new AP teachers on behalf of the Division of Advanced Academics for Miami Dade County Public Schools.
He was the Rookie Teacher of the Year at Miami Beach Senior High School and has twice been a finalist for Social Studies Teacher of the Year for Miami Dade County.
In his private time, Ken enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and reading.
